Composed by Thom Hasenpflug, first performed in the water at Henrys Fork, Idaho, near a Divide crossing.

This work represents the Southern Idaho region for the Sonic Divide composition series. It is the composer's hope that the work be played in the greater Yellowstone area, near the Idaho / Wyoming / Montana border regions. The title references a likely performance location. This piece is required to be performed at water's edge. (If it's a nice enough day, the player may even wish to wade in a little bit.) The performer is asked to utilize the sounds of the present water.

The brief original text is meant to appropriately reflect not only on the sonic divide ride experience, but also a larger more naturalist perspective. Because if its regional significance, the words are
translated into the Shoshoni languiage whose peoples are native to the region.

"Here I sit beside water's edge. A time for contemplation and reflection.

Here shall I rest, if but only for a moment. Soon I shall be gone."
Shoshoni is an oral language, and is transcribed as follows:

EgisheN gwizho'naikande, ne siki baaN gewaga gateH.

HiiN gahti suhannideki. Gaipai'. MiisheN ne Makahyunde mi'adu'i.

Meaning, more literally:
"Feeling life (as it should be) - I'm sitting beside the water's edge.
contemplating / at rest. Soon I will leave this place."
